Aero CFD offers quick and efficient assessments of thermo-mechanical whole engine responses of turbomachines at lower computational costs

It’s an ever-present challenge when modeling turbine engines: how do you efficiently verify that you are working with the correct heat transfer coefficients (HTC)? Physical testing and validation require a great deal of resources and can be time consuming.

A more economical approach involves using the WEM approach for most of the design and combining it with 3D CFD for modeling of areas of high uncertainty, such as cavities within the engine. Maya HTT’s Aero CFD solution enables this combined approach and ensures that you can avoid the risks associated with making assumptions about HTC values.

Aero CFD lets you to accurately model thermo-mechanical effects on the whole engine over full mission cycles. The solution offers an alternative to running a full 3D conjugate computational fluid dynamics (CFD) on the whole engine model, which is cost-prohibitive during the early design phase.

The solution is also easily incorporated into specific regions of the whole engine model, such as the fluid domain that represents the cavity between the stator and the rotor. Moving from 2D to 3D and then adding the relevant physics is easily accomplished in just a handful of steps.
