A new strategy for evaluating electric machine thermal performance in the Simcenter environment
Thermal behaviour of a motor is critical to ensuring that the performance of the machine is within the limits of the material’s capabilities. Variations in temperature can substantially affect performance, extreme variations can risk permanent damage.
Being able to rapidly evaluate the cooling requirements and options can dramatically cut back on the simulation time (compared to a classic CFD approach) and yield much better accuracy than a traditional analytical strategy.

- What a lumped parameter thermal network is
- How it is implemented in the Simcenter tools
- How to use this feature to get accurate thermal results quickly
- How this feature can be tied to a motor performance model and the rest of a system simulation model
You’ll gain a solid understanding of:
- How LPTNs can accelerate the thermal stage of an electric machine design cycle
