Applying simulation to your specific engineering problem requires:
- Analysis software — Do you have the right tool for the analysis you want to do, or at least a tool that will complete the task well enough? Check the capabilities of software your company already has. Some software can do almost everything, while others specialize in specific types of analysis.
- Data inputs for analysis — This will determine the type of analysis or the level of detail and accuracy you can achieve.
- Computational resources — Do you have the computing power to run the simulations? Relatively standard workstations are often sufficient, but bigger analysis problems require more, possibly even high-performance computing capabilities.
- Expertise — Make sure your team has the skills to work effectively. If not, invest in training or seek external help.
