Software In Loop Simulation for Gear Change Actuator
Manish Kumar, Xtrac
Electro Servo Actuator by Xtrac Ltd is an award wining gear change actuator for dog transmissions. It is used in multiple race car series like IndyCar full grid, IMSA 2GTD Pro. It is designed to do lightening fast full gear shifts. There was a need for this actuator to perform additional function of holding the dog ring between two gear positions to implement false neutral. This work shows how Software in Loop simulation was setup to implement the control algorithm to achieve this before being implemented in real prototype.
